At Little SOHLS, we know motherhood can feel like one giant beautiful blur. Between daycare drop-offs, cold coffees, and running a household (or business!), it can be easy to forget about… well, you. That’s why this Mother’s Day, we wanted to spotlight a fellow mum who reminds us all that a little self-love goes a long way.
Enter Lydia Kirkland—mum of two, founder of GIMME, and a firm believer in the power of great jewellery (even when you’re wearing trackies).
In our Quick-Fire Five with Lydia, she shares what it’s really like juggling motherhood and running a business, her go-to confidence hacks (hint: earrings are involved), and why it’s okay to show up messy. Because sometimes the most powerful thing we can do as mums is back ourselves—even when it feels delusional.
Whether you're in the thick of the toddler years or stealing a moment of peace between the school run and Zoom calls, this one’s for you. A little dose of inspo, humour, and a gentle reminder that you’re doing better than you think.
And to help you feel a little more like you this Mother’s Day… we’ve teamed up with GIMME to give you a free piece of jewellery with every Little SOHLS purchase over $100. Finally—something for Mum too. 🤍
Lydia, thanks for sitting down with us! With your incredibly busy schedule, tell us—how’s life juggling your own business and motherhood? Ha! It’s a beautiful mess. Some days I feel like I’m nailing it, other days I’m replying to emails in the carpark of daycare with a half-eaten snack in my hair. But honestly, growing GIMME while raising my babies has taught me how capable I am… even if I don’t always feel like it in the moment. It’s chaotic, yes. But it’s also fun.
What’s been your biggest lesson as a mum and a founder? If you had your time over, would you do it all again? Biggest lesson? You can do it all, but it won’t all be perfect. And that’s okay! I’m trying to let go of the idea of ‘balance’—some days my home life gets more of me, other days the business does. You just got to keep showing up, do what you can, and trust that it’s enough.
To us, GIMME is all about simple, practical, and stylish pieces to elevate any look. Tell us—what are your top 3 tips for looking put-together while parenting?
Get your colour analysis done! It’s changed the way I shop and get dressed—I know what suits me now.
Just add jewellery, obvs! You can wear trackies and still feel fab with the right pair of earrings. It gives your outfit (and your mood!) a lift.
A fun hat. Preferably from this cool store called GIMME 😉
What’s your philosophy when it comes to dressing your little ones? Any favourite kidswear brands or go-to features you look for when shopping? I like clothes that let kids be kids. We’ve been lucky enough to inherit lots of hand-me-downs, so the kids generally wear those to daycare/pre-school. As for “nice clothes”, we’re big fans of Cinnamon Baby (obviously!), Eastaxe and Zara.
What keeps you inspired as a business owner? And what’s one piece of advice you’d give to fellow mumpreneurs ready to take the leap? Honestly? It’s the DMs. The ones from women saying, “These earrings made me feel like me again.” That stuff hits deep. It’s not just about jewellery—it’s about helping women feel a little more put-together in the chaos. That reminder keeps me grounded and fired up. And my advice? Don’t wait until it’s perfect—that day doesn’t exist. Start messy, make mistakes, course-correct as you go. And back yourself, even when it feels delusional. That gut instinct? It knows more than you think.
Feeling inspired?
We thought so. And because we believe Mum deserves to feel just as special as the little ones—we’re giving you a free pair of GIMME earrings with every Little SOHLS order over $100, for a limited time only.
Because sometimes the best kind of magic is a mum who feels like herself again. 🤎
